Dan’s 2020 Book List

12 books – I’ve definitely read more in a year.

I’ve become more intentional with what I read.

I read 10 pages or a chapter of a good book each day.

I focus on application, rather than just more information.

I enjoyed all of these – and I hope you will too!

*Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

This was the first fantasy book I’ve read since I was a teenager and I was absolutely enthralled by it. Fantastic world building and story-telling. I honestly could not put it down.

*Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss

I love this book – I’m rereading it. Tim Ferriss has interviewed some of the best high-performing minds of our time and summarizes what he’s learned from each one in this book. I re-read it this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a great reference book.

*Principles by Ray Dalio

Ray Dalio is a brilliant mind – who has run one of the most successful hedge funds in the world. He also recently lost his son in a tragic car crash. I would highly recommend learning from him.

*Becoming by Michelle Obama

This year I started having Mikayla recommend every 4th book I read – and this was the one she picked. It was fantastic – I really enjoyed seeing America through Michelle’s eyes. If you’re looking for an enlightening read, read this.

*Ride of a Lifetime – by Bob Iger

A memoir written by the CEO of Disney for the last 10+ years. Want to learn how Disney acquired Pixar, Marvel, and StarWars and started Disney+? This book will have you on the edge of your seat.

*Prosperity Paradox – by Clayton Christensen

This became my favorite read of all time – and turned out to be the last book published by Clayton Christensen before he died earlier this year. If you want to change the world and truly help people, read this.

*Influence, the Psychology of Persuasion – by Robert Chaldini

A classic book on psychology and marketing.

*Traction – by Gabriel Weinberg & Justin Mares

A great book on different marketing channels by the the Co-Founder of the new up and coming search engine (like Google) DuckDuckGo.

*Profit First – by Mike Michalowicz

Whenever someone asks me how to manage their business finances, I point them to this book.

*Zero to One – by Peter Thiel

Peter Thiel was one of the Co-founders in PayPal and the first investor in Facebook. He’s a smart dude. You should read this. It’s not long.

*Smart Money, Smart Kids – by Dave Ramsey & Rachel Cruze

This is a great read about teaching kids money. Our kids are still too little, but it’s amazing how you can begin to help your kids from an early age. Check it out!

*Steve Jobs – by Walter Issacson

One of the best biographies I’ve ever read. Think about the power of Apple on the world. A major reason Apple is the way it is today, is because of Steve Jobs. I highly recommend this book.
