Here’s a list of books I read in 2022, in no particular order.
Crushing it – Gary Vaynerchuk – Gary is the social media legend – he encouraged me to go all-in on organic social media – a strategy that has paid off handsomely.
100MM Offers – Alex Hormozi – this is a must-read business book. It changed our business forever.
Sapiens – Yuval Noah Harari – I loved this perspective of the history of humanity from a secular voice. It was fascinating, gave me new insights, and increased my love for the human race.
View of the Hebrews – Ethan Smith – It is often claimed that Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon because of this book. After actually reading it, my conclusion is that is not true.
Discipline is Destiny – By Ryan Holiday – Ryan Holiday writes about virtues and stoicism. I really like his storytelling and ability to encourage me to practice and develop more virtue in my life.
The Book of Mormon – I read the Book of Mormon every year, typically in German or English. This year I was touched by the constant invitation to love my fellow man.
The New Testament – I read the 4 Gospels in the gym in the morning. It really made me appreciate the lives of Jesus Christ and the apostles this year in more detail.
The Old Testament – We read the Old Testament this year as a family. I was particularly touched by the stories of Daniel in the lion’s den and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo.
How to be a Capitalist Without Any Capital – Nathan Latka – if you want to have a book break down all your beliefs about what isn’t possible about finances, business, and real estate, this it.
The Obstacle is the Way – Ryan Holiday – The title is self-explanatory. But I personally have found that the most difficult thing in our path is the thing we most need to do. This book encouraged me to persevere and have the right attitude even when things are hard.
I find myself being more choosy with books I read – basing my reading more on recommendations and referrals than what looks good.
I’ve often found that books overload my head with ideas – often veering off course from whatever I’m trying to execute on now.
I think reading and being open to ideas is a wonderful, important good thing.
As I get older, execution is becoming more of a bottleneck than ideas.
Focus is the key to getting ahead.
I encourage everyone to read – and just as important and often forgotten, to implement viciously.
Hope these books help guide you on your journey as they have me!
I do not have the discipline to read non-fiction so I appreciate the summaries.
However, if you have Amazon prime and the kindle app you can read so much for free on kindle and I’ve really been enjoying my favorite genre (historical fiction) this way and it’s also helped a LOT as I cancelled my tv subscriptions for phase 1. AND as a bonus I find that reading is actually far more engaging than watching television.
I love that you read things that help you love humanity more because sometimes it isn’t easy.
Thanks again!
