7 Social Distancing Friendly Date Ideas

  1. The 100 Dreams Exercise

This is a SUPER fun activity – essentially you write down a list of 100 dreams that you’d like to achieve in your lifetime. It provides so much clarity, fun, and purpose for the future. Especially in a time where we may feel constrained by the pandemic.

Click here to see how to do it. This link also includes Dan & Kay’s 100 dreams lists.

2. The Relationship Time Capsule

We did this for date night last week. We really enjoyed putting together a package we’ll open on our 20th anniversary. It was pretty easy to do an inexpensive.

Here are the instructions of how to make it happen!

3. Go to a park in your city you’ve never been to before

I think you’ll be surprised to find out there are some amazing parks in your area that you have NO idea even existed. Being outside and wearing a mask totally makes this doable too.

So how do you find them? Post on Facebook or Instagram and ask what people’s favorite parks in your area are that you probably don’t know about. I guarantee there will be at least one!

Then make a picnic and go spend an evening there.

4. Write down baby names from Family History

We’re having a baby boy in November – but we’re REALLLLLLY struggling with boy names for some reason. We’ve planned to go through our family history at Family Search or Ancestry.com and see if there are any names that we like.

Typically all you need is the names and maybe birthdays of your grandparents and you’re good to go!

5. Cook through an Entire Cookbook

This has been SO FUN to do this year. During Christmas Dan’s mom gifted us this amazing cookbook and we’re obsessed.

We’ve made a new recipe out of it at least once per week since April, and we’re close to finishing it.

We’ve developed new cooking skills and found some recipes that we don’t think we can live with out….

Seriously – this cookbook is sooo good.

6. Read a Biography Together (Steve Jobs, Benjamin Franklin, Amelia Earhart)

Reading together is one of our favorite things to do if we have a free evening. Especially when we get to learn. Here are three biographies you might enjoy together:

Steve Jobs

Amelia Earhart (and 4 other amazing women)

Benjamin Franklin

7. Watch Olivia Gochnour’s “Expert Series”

Olivia is one of our favorite influencers on Instagram because of how genuine and real she is, and because she’s the same way in real life! As a friend of ours, we’ve enjoyed a project she’s put together called “The Expert Series” where she brings all sorts of experts on to talk about mortgages, cleaning, intuitive eating, sleep training for babies, and more!

We were able to come on to her show and talk budgeting for a solid 35 minutes.

Give it a watch here! (You don’t need Instagram to watch)

Bonus – Ask your spouse these 9 questions this weekend

Sometimes it’s just good to talk to your spouse or significant other. It’s important to build a friendship.

These 9 questions are a great date night activity, and we promise you’ll learn something new about each other!

We hope you have a great date!
